The purpose of the missions committee is to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) by creating and overseeing a God-directed missions program that reaffirms the church’s faith and encourages the church’s involvement in missions. In everything we do, we recognize this as God’s Mission – the activity of God – in which He allows us to be participants.
Current Areas of Support
Africa – Malawi
Jared Brockington, D.O., and Jenny Brockington, D.O., serve as medical missionaries in rural Malawi where they live with their daughter, Sophia. They moved in January 2015, and have been putting their God-given talents to use as they care for the physical and spiritual needs of the people in and around Msundwe. This December will be the end of that 2 year commitment. They will be relocating to Chogoria, Kenya in 2017 to serve at PCEA Chogoria Hospital. They will be traveling back to USA for the holidays before the move in March. Please update your contact information for them as it has changed.
Arlind (Ari) Veshti has been serving as the youth minister at Durres Church of Christ in Durres, Albania since 2010. He leads the youth in studying and pursuing Christ. The ministry is focused on approximately 30 youth, ages 14-20.
Every month there are activities to involve the youth such as trips to other cities, movie nights, Christmas shows, Youth Camp, special themed meetings, etc.
Being in a mostly Muslim culture, the ministry is focused on youth outreach, and right now there are seven converted youth.
There are also two volunteers who have been involved in this ministry since 2013: Olta Kosta and Egnisa Ferhati.
We are learning about a southern Indian preacher’s work with a leper colony, a preacher training school, and a children’s home.
For more information about these and other missions, please contact Cathy Koll or Doug Thompson.
