Christian Outreach Alliance

Jesus said, “in as much as you have served the least of these, my brethren, you have served me.”

Christian Outreach Alliance

Known to many as “COA,” Christian Outreach Alliance is a cooperative of local Bay Area churches ministering to the people of Clear Lake and surrounding communities.  The goal of COA is to reach out with God’s love to see the Clear Lake Area transformed into a community with less crime, fewer high school dropouts, a lower unemployment rate, and a presence of God in every household.

The COA Vision:

COA is committed to building a community transformed by the love of Jesus.

Christian Outreach Alliance is a non profit organization of local churches working together in many different efforts.

Congregations involved at present are:

  • Clear Lake Baptist Church
  • Clear Lake Church of Christ
  • Clear Lake Presbyterian Church
  • Clear Lake United Methodist Church
  • Gateway Community Church

(We pray that God would lead other churches in our area to join in this united effort.)

Fun in the Son

One way COA is working to help in our community is to offer classes to empower students with knowledge and skills. All of our classes are bi-lingual and currently meet at Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Our current class schedule is as follows:

After School Tutoring – Tuesday & Wednesday 3:30 – 5:00

  • Begins March 29 at Clear Lake City Recreation Center
  • Tutor training on March 22
  • Gateway, Clear Lake Presbyterian, & Clear Lake Baptist Churches to tutor on Tuesdays
  • Clear Lake Church of Christ and Clear Lake Methodist to Tutor on Wednesdays
  • Please email Donna Stone (donna.stone@clearlakechurch.com) or Jana Layman (janalayman@sbcglobal.net) if you are interested in tutoring, or for more information
  • Volunteers for providing snacks are also welcome

Girl Scouts – Thursday 4:30 p.m.

Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scout Troops for K-5 age girls.

These girls are financially sponsored and enjoy all the benefits of a girl scout because of COA. For more information contact Pam Hackleman – pchackleman@aol.com

COA’s greatest effort: The DECK

COA was founded in 2006 and has a rich history of service and friendship in our community, from after school tutoring, Bible studies, Day school, computer classes, summer VBS, and mother/child programs. COA is now focusing on a specific dream they have shared from the beginning: encouraging and serving our teen age population.  Please read more about this effort at clearlakecoa.org/futuredeck-plans
