Summer Adult Bible Class

Hidden Treasure by Rembrandt, 1630

One of Jesus’ favorite methods of teaching was through parables. These stories (and other such parabolic devices) were intended to shock hearers into a new way of understanding and thus, a new way of living!  It’s similar to hearing a joke that makes one laugh because they got the “punch line”. But upon reflection they see a deeper meaning that causes them to ponder or question things they have perhaps taken for granted, or simply refused to see.

In our summer adult Bible class we will be considering a specific category of parables: the kingdom parables of Matthew’s Gospel. Each one begins with the phrase, “The kingdom of heaven is like . . .”  I hope you will join us in the Fellowship Hall each Sunday morning from 9:15 – 10:15.
