Elevator

stewardship-in-actionOver the past few decades we have been able to maintain our building quite well. God has given us exactly what we need to care for our facilities on a day-to-day basis. However, there have been a few instances where God has moved individuals to give toward a certain project that we need in order to do Kingdom work better. The biggest project was the remodel of the Refuge Youth Center that was completed at the end of 2009. A family was very moved by how we do youth ministry and wanted to be  generous with their support. They asked how much money we needed at each stage of the remodel in order to make it happen and happen faster, then always responded with the amount needed to move forward.  Without the Lord leading them to contribute to this project, we might not have that wonderful center, which truly is a refuge for so many teens.

Once the Refuge was complete, this generous family wanted to know what was next. At the time, we had a teen whose limited mobility eventually landed him in a wheelchair. He had no way to get up to the Refuge. An elevator was put on the hearts of Jeremy and Donna, knowing that even if we didn’t get one installed for that particular teen, God would provide if he knew we would need it in the future. That  family agreed and has donated exactly the amount we need for that project. The elevator installation began yesterday, Monday, October 3, and will be completed in the next few weeks.

This is an example of God giving His people gifts and them responding in obedience. We are forever grateful to this family for their generosity. Plus, the people whose children can get to the Refuge in the future, only because we have an elevator, will be told of this family and God’s goodness.
