#TakeFaithHome – July

Have you ever blessed your child? We share with our kids a lot of blessing like food, shelter, love, etc. but many times we don’t think to speak over them affirmations based in the truth of God’s love for them. Regularly speaking a blessing over our children will help reinforce their self-worth and their faith.

There are a few simple elements to a blessing (everyone’s list varies a little):

  • Meaningful and appropriate touch
  • Words of love and acceptance
  • A focus on the future

One example of a blessing from scripture comes from Numbers 6:24-26 –

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”’

Other examples include:

  • May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and your mind. – Phil 4:7

  • May the goodness and mercy of God follow you all the days of your life. – Psalm 23:6

  • May God strengthen you with power through His Spirit – Eph 3:16

Speaking these scriptural truths over our children will help them experience the promises of God. This month lets work on blessing our kids.
