Impact Week

Impact week 2016What is IMPACT WEEK?

Led by our youth ministry and supported by a strong contingent of volunteers from our church family, Impact Week is an effort to connect with, pray for, and serve our neighbors with “no strings attached.” Our goals during Impact Week are to “Love God. Love Others.” (Mark 12:30-31) and to put “God’s Love in Action” (I John 3:16-18). This year our theme is “The Church Has Left the Building” and we will focus on living out the truth that Being the Church has a lot more to do with how we live outside the church walls than within them.

During Impact Week, we spend our mornings and a few evenings, knocking on every door in the neighborhoods surrounding our church building. We offer prayer and service to everyone we meet and take down prayer requests, which are then prayed for by our students and volunteers as well as by a team of Prayer Warriors throughout the week. Any service requests we receive are taken care of in the afternoons by our Service Teams, made up of our youth and led by college students and adult volunteers. Several evenings during the week, we hold family friendly events for our community, such as a Back to School Summer Bash for our apartment community and our annual favorite, Movie in the Park.  Additionally, this year we are adding a very special piece to our week. We will be inviting our Camino South neighbors to join us for a time of worship on Sunday morning, July 31st at 9:00 a.m. in Camino South Park (next to Whitcomb Elementary).  We will be asking our CLCC family to “leave the building” that Sunday morning and join us for Worship in the Park, which will be followed by a light brunch.

How can I help?

Student participants:

Please have your parents REGISTER you at tiny.cc/impactweek2016 so we know who’s coming and other important info, like t-shirt sizes (which we need finalized by next Sunday, July 17).  The cost is $70 and covers at least 2 meals a day and 2 t-shirts. (Let us know if the $70 is hard to come by right now…we’ve got folks who can help you!)

Parents and other adults:

We need lots of adult volunteers to help us in several ways. Download more information about How You Can Help and fill out the Adult Volunteer Registration form or pick up a copy at our Impact Week table next to the Welcome Center. Just complete the form and turn it back in at the Welcome Center or hand it to Jarron or Donna.

We would like to encourage you to participate and serve in the fullest way you can.  You will play a crucial role in the happenings of this week. We want to encourage you to participate because we know that God will bless you through your participation.  Service in the Lord’s name has the power to change hearts especially when we decide to get out of our regular routine.  Most importantly, we believe God’s name will be glorified and His good news will be spread.  It is for God’s glory that we are called to love others for the sake of His Kingdom.

Come join us in our desire to Love God and Love Others.  (Mark 12: 30-31)

May we demonstrate God’s love in action! (I John 3:16-18)

Live out Jesus’ call to  make disciples of all nations. (Matthew 28:19)
