Family Discipleship – 2/10/15

Bring Faith Home 3

For those with younger children:

If you don’t already know, this Saturday is Valentine’s Day. This week you can use Valentine’s Day to remind your children of God’s love for them by taking some time with your children to do this “God is love” coloring sheet.

Many people hand out Valentine’s Day cards to express friendship or love to each other. Color the picture together or each make your own. When you are finished coloring the picture (or while you are coloring together) talk to your children about Valentine’s Day. Did they get any cards? Why do they get cards? Etc.

Ask your children if they know that God loves them. We know that God loves us because the Bible tells us. For example, 1 John 4:19 says “We love because he loved us first.” Tell them that you love them and that God loves them even more. Then hang up your artwork somewhere to be displayed.

For those with adolescents:

Last week you had an opportunity to go over the February Authentic Discipleship material together as a family. This week we are going to build on top of that.

  • If you were able to do that together then send an encouraging text message that lets your teen know that you are still supporting them trying to be like Christ in the area they chose to work on.
  • If you were not able to do that last week then take some time and think about your child(ren). Say a prayer for them and afterwards send them an encouraging text message that lets your child(ren) know that you are thinking about them. Tell them one thing that you prayed for them about.
