Identity Before Mission

whoare-you-and-why-are-you-here.I can’t think of anything more profound to say in my reflections this week than to repeat the list of statements God has made concerning our identity in Christ.  This is who we are and our mission is to live a life believing them to be true.

Your Identity In Christ

∙ You are the salt of the earth (Matt. 5:13)
∙ You are the light of the world (Matt. 5:14)
∙ You are a child of God (John 1:12)
∙ You are a temple of God (1 Cor. 3:16)
∙ You are a saint (Eph. 1:1)
∙ You are part of the new creation (2 Cor. 5:17)
∙ You are reconciled to God (2 Cor. 5:18)
∙ You are a child of God (Gal. 3:26)
∙ You are God’s handiwork (Eph. 2:10)
∙ You are a member of God’s household (Eph. 2:19)
∙ You are a prisoner of Christ (Eph. 3:1)
∙ You are righteous and holy (Eph. 4:24)
∙ You are a citizen of heaven (Phil 3:20)
∙ You are hidden with Christ in God (Col. 3:3)
∙ You are chosen of God, holy and dearly loved (Col. 3:12)
∙ You share in the heavenly calling (Heb. 3:1)
∙ You are part of a chosen people (1 Pet. 2:9)
∙ You are part of a royal priesthood (1 Pet. 2:9)
∙ You are part of a holy nation (1 Pet. 2:9)
∙ You are God’s special possession (1 Pet. 2:9)
∙ You are part of the people of God (1 Pet. 2:10)
∙ You are a foreigner and exile in this world (1 Pet. 2:11)
∙ You are an enemy of the devil (1 Pet. 5:8)
∙ You will be like Christ when he appears (1 John 1:2)
∙ You are born of God and the evil one can’t harm you (1 John 5:18)

    Thanks, Byron, I thought about asking you for this list to send to my mother who is in assistive living in Lewisville, Texas. She likes to put things on her fridge that she wants to remember. This will be a great encouragement to her. I’ll type it up and mail it to her.
