Living Jesus in CommUnity

Living-Jesus-in-CommunityMy favorite part of today’s service occurred at the very end.   After telling people to find someone they did not know and introduce themselves, immediately people began turning to those around them, introducing themselves.  I saw someone lean way over their pew to greet a person two pews away.  I had to have the lights lowered so we could close with a benediction!

Acting so immediately on my instructions was a highlight because it illustrates how ready we as a congregation are to grow in community.  I said in the sermon that I believed this theme is a next step the Holy Spirit is leading us to take and I really believe that.

Differences will neither define us nor divide us.  Rather, as we learn to Live Jesus in CommUnity we will be able to celebrate our differences in a united spirit of love for one another.  We celebrate because we have a common Savior who is changing us all to become more like himself.  And the results will be Jesus shinning through us so that the world might know him.  This is why Jesus told us, (best said in Southern English) “All ya’ll are the light of the world. . . .  Let ya’ll’s light shine before others that they may see ya’ll’s good deeds and praise ya’ll’s Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14, 16)
