A Rule to Live By

quote-about-inspirational_15672-0How do you eat an elephant?  The answer: one bite at a time.  A study of the Sermon on the Mount could so overwhelm an individual that they become immobilized.  Where does one even start?  Jesus answers that near the end of his sermon.  “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets”  (Matthew 7:12).

Living Jesus begins with the small things.  Being polite, thinking of others, generosity, and acts of kindness.  Commit yourself to live the Golden Rule and the small things become big things.

Ever heard of the Platinum Rule? It is “treat people how they want to be treated” (there are minor variations that say basically the same thing). I’ve mostly seen it discussed in the context of customer service business strategy. It is often presented as an improvement on the Golden Rule. Do you think that this is significantly different from the Golden Rule?
