Family Promise Coming Soon!

Next Hosting Week coming March 3-9!     CLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER!

It’s time once again to plan for our next Family Promise hosting week!  (Don’t know what Family Promise is?  Click here.) Our next hosting week is March 3 through March 9.  As always we need lots of volunteers to make this wonderful ministry continue to be a blessing to homeless families in our area.  We need people to help with preparing & serving meals, evening activities, overnight hosts, and laundry at the end of the week.
Meals– Coordinator- Amy Grice
Volunteers prepare and serve dinners for up to 14 guests Sun-Sat evenings during our host week from 5:30-7pm in the Refuge youth center. You can volunteer to drop off food and/or come to help serve and then stay to eat and visit with the guests. We encourage volunteers who help serve dinner to stay until 8:30pm if they can because it helps our guests to feel more comfortable. Volunteers also prepare and serve breakfast on Saturday (7:30am-9am) and Sunday (7am-8am) mornings during our host week.
Overnight Hosts– Coordinator- Richie Foy
Overnight hosts report to the Refuge Youth Center by 8:30pm and sleep overnight in the Refuge on air mattresses we provide. Their job is to lock the doors and turn the lights out at bedtime. Their duties are completed after the families leave our building by 6:30am on Monday-Friday mornings; Saturday by 9am, and Sunday by 8am. One male and one female overnight host volunteer are needed each evening.
Evening Activities– Coordinator- Lee Anne Robbins
Our preference is for meal volunteers to stay through the evening until 8:30pm when overnight volunteers arrive. We need 2 adult volunteers and 2 teen volunteers to be present each evening on Sunday-Thursday evenings. On Friday and Saturday evenings, we need 4 adult volunteers and 2 teen volunteers so that 2 of the adult volunteers can take the guest children down to the gym to play and 2 adult volunteers can remain in the Refuge.
Set-up and Take-down– Coordinator- Jeremy Glover
Volunteers report to the Refuge at 2pm on the first Sunday of our host week to help take down the Refuge equipment and set up the Family Promise supplies. They come back on the following Sunday morning at 8am to pack everything up and set up the Refuge for Bible class.
Laundry– Coordinator- Terry Madero
Volunteers pick up the guests’ sheets and comforters at the end of each host week to be laundered and returned to the building. We need approximately 10 volunteers for each host week.
