News and Notes – October 19

Cold Weather Clothing Drive for the Homeless: Don’t forget that donations of blankets, coats, long-sleeve shirts, sweaters, sleeping bags, pants, gloves, hats, etc. are due Sunday, October 21.

Harvest Festival will be on Saturday, October 27 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.. (Please note the time change this year!!) There will be a box for individually wrapped, non-chocolate candy donations in the foyer. In an effort to provide consistency in prizes as well as to offset the costs of Harvest Festival, we are asking for cash donations this year as well. Please give cash donations to Liz Fike or Sara Montazari. Volunteers may sign up at the Harvest Festival table in the foyer or by contacting Jana Layman. Please join us for a fun-filled family friendly evening.

Baby Boy Shower: There will be a gift card shower for Sara Taylor on Sunday, November 4, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the church building. All ladies are invited to attend.

Samaritan’s Purse: For the past two years, our children’s ministry has participated in a service project called Operation Christmas Child which demonstrates God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world. On Sunday, November 11, all children ages 3 through 5th grade are asked to bring a shoebox and $7 (for shipping the boxes). We will meet in the Praise Kids room from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. It is our hope that we can make this a church-wide service project by asking those of you who do not have children in this age group to provide the items for packing the shoeboxes. Items should be placed in the box in the foyer by Sunday, November 4. Click here for more information or contact Liz Fike or Jana Layman.

Freedom Walk Tour: This month’s free one hour tour of the faith-based men’s prison in Richmond, Texas will be offered at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8. Come see how men’s lives are being changed by Jesus Christ! Lee Anne and Gary Robbins have been on the tour and can answer any questions you might have or help you register to attend.

NOTE:  We have temporarily moved our Praise and Prayer list to our Facebook Group so that we can protect the privacy of those on our list.  Soon our members only section of our website will be up and running and we will include our Praise and Prayer list there.
